Troop #158 - MembersSylvia & Phil I have 4 golden retrievers. Buddy, 7, is my original goofy golden. He is the silliest boy around. A very loving, big gentle boy who sounds a bit like your friend's dog with that demand barking. We are working on that too. He is extremely insistent. He wants what he wants when he wants it. LOL. My husband is a big marshmellow and gives in to him. I was a teacher for over 30 years and learned how to say no! Lucky,9 (?), our dark red golden, is our rescue, from Golden Retriever Rescue of NJ. On August 1 we will have him for 5 years. We call it his "Birthaversary"! He is a sweet, loving, dog who was picked up as a stray in Lancaster County. He was obviously abused and has some fear issues. His biggest one being a fear of tables. Yep, tables. Won't go under them if he can help it and will swing a wide berth around them. He is much better than he was when we got him. I have been working on this with him. It has been 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Teddy is our youngest boy at 19 months old. He just had surgery this past week. The Vet is 95% sure that he has a Dermoid Cyst. We will be certain when we get the results of the biopsy. He is another goofy golden. Happy go lucky as most goldens are with a loving personality. A bit stubborn but very smart when he wants to be. And last but not least is Dixie,8 months, our little girl, who we adopted a week ago today!! She is tiny compared to my boys. We got her from a breeder who decided not to use her for show. She is trained on and off leash. Yet she doesn't know simple commands such as sit. Actually, she has learned that one this week. She is the dog I would like to become a therapy dog. I think she has the temperment for it. I can't come to today's meeting because of Teddy just being home from surgery and Dixie still being relatively new, though she is crate trained. Next weeks meeting might work out if it is on a Sunday. I already have an obligation for Saturday. I can't seem to find the post which explains the dues. Is it a one time fee for the entire family or is it per dog? What exactly is the amount? Overall, I am interested in more obedience training for Teddy, he has been to 2 classes, but could use more. I guess really teaching myself how to be a better obedience teacher. Therapy training for Dixie. Fear issue relief for Lucky and Buddy well, I guess, his barking, can be quite annoying. How is that for a list? LOL! It would be fun getting together on our own also. Especially since we don't live that far from each other. I live about 20 minutes west of Flemington. 30 minutes southwest of New Hope. Sylvia and her Golden Four. I have sent pictures of my pack!
